Is your office space ready for the next generation?
/Millennials and Gen Z are looking for companies who care about both people and the planet. Not only should this be key to your products but it also needs to be incorporated into your workplace. These generations grew up hearing “REDUCE. REUSE. RECYCLE.” They carry around reusable grocery bags. They don’t leave home without their utensils made out of bamboo and stainless steel. They have replaced Ziploc bags with beeswax paper wraps. Research has found that once they know you are committed to caring about the people and the planet, 74% are more likely to pay attention to your message and 83% will trust your company more. In fact, 93% of Gen Zers believe brands are obligated to take a stand on environmental issues. How does your workplace express your commitment to people and the planet? Do you recycle? When was the last time you assessed energy efficiency and challenged your employees to take part in caring for the environment? Gen Zers want to know that a company’s commitment runs deep. They are not interested in a one-time campaign promoting social good, they want to know that it is part of the DNA. I might add that these changes should not just be done so you can build and maintain a strong workforce but also because it’s just the right thing to do.
